MTS
Farms
- Beautiful Horses That Ride
Located just
outside of Smithville in central Texas on 40 acres of lush pasture
and large oaks. The Farm features an 80x180 arena, round pen,
ventilated barn, stallion safe turn-out pens, and improved
pastures.
All young stock is
started with classic gentling techniques and imprinting. The MTS
philosophy is all about fairness, mutual respect, and turning out
honest horses with good minds. Meredith and Tim believe very
strongly in breeding performance horses that are pretty enough to be
shown in halter - the best of both worlds! Great trainability,
athleticism, and beauty - a perfect combination!

Meredith
Spice
Meredith grew up with horses in
both Houston and Austin, riding even before she could walk. Her life
has been centered around horses and the horse world - everything
from training and showing, to breeding and medical care. Her first
experiences were with American Quarter Horses and Paints which she
showed successfully to many wins in Halter, Hunter Hack, and Sr.
Western Pleasure.
At the age of 18 her
attention turned to Arabians when she borrowed one for a trail ride.
Needless to say she was very impressed and immediately purchased her
borrowed trail mount, Harmony Cameo. That was her first of many
Arabs and she has never looked back!
Meredith has 15+ years experience as
a Veterinary Technician specializing in large animals. She believes
that the way to keep horses healthy is by allowing them to live in
as natural of an environment as can be arranged. At MTS, even the
show horses are allowed on pasture when possible.
Meredith
loves teaching people to ride, care for, and safely enjoy horses
- especially kids. She holds teaching certifications for riding
instruction with the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA).
She spent 3 years as Director of Riding Programs at Rocky
River Ranch in Wimberley, Texas. And 7 years with the Boy
Scouts Summer Camp program as a riding instructor.
Meredith is a member in good standing
with the Arabian Horse Association (AHA),
American Paint Horse Association (APHA),
Appaloosa Horse Club (ApHC),
and the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF).
She served two years on the Board of Directors of
Central Texas Arabian Horse Club.
In 2002, Meredith
branched out her Arabian breeding program to include Appaloosa and
Paint stallions bred to her Arab mares. And out of "MTS Arabians", a
new venture was born raising 'Beautiful Horses that Ride - MTS
Farms.

Tim Spice
Tim is employed at
Texas Parks and Wildlife as Coordinator of Urban Outreach
Programs. He has also been in the US Army
Reserves for over 20 years and currently holds the rank of Command Sergeant
Major. Tim was activated for duty during Desert Storm and
again on September 28, 2001 for Homeland Security.
Around the farm, Tim is in charge of
maintenance, upkeep, new projects and improvements. His help is
also great before show time with bridle path clipping - at way over 6 feet in
height no matter
how high they raise their heads he can still reach!
In January 2008 Tim went on active
duty once again
with the US Army.
